Vaseline lip therapy: Rosy lips and Cocoa butter

Hello everybody!

I wanted to share with you guys the cute little Vaseline Lip Therapy tins, aren’t they cute? A ‘Rosy Lips’ and ‘Cocoa Butter’ petroleum jelly!

Every time I would go to grocery shopping and eyed them(like 90s Indian villains, lol), one day finally I picked two little tin tubs.

A different pose…

Do they work? They are not lip-balms, so I wasn’t expecting any protection or softness to lips. Rosy Lips has very little pink tint, which doesn’t show on my lips, it smells like roses but artificial. But hey, the tin is pink! 😛

Cocoa Butter does make lips a little moisturized as compared to Rosy lips, but again not much heavy on protection from chapped lips. This smells like real cocoa, amazing!(Same smell as that of ‘Vaseline Total Moisture Cocoa Glow Lotion‘).

It was really hot in Bangalore last week(38 °C,sigh!) which made them little runny, guess they are not meant for hotter climate, I had to store them in fridge. Is that the reason they are not sold in India? In here we have Vaseline lip-therapy in twist up lip-stick like packaging, which I haven’t tried so cannot compare, sorry.

When it comes to saving lips from dryness, cocoa butter is best amongst two. Oh, it says same on side on tin; ‘Soothes dry skin and lips‘, hmm means good for dry lips. While Rosy lips just says, tint and cares, not much huh?

vaseline-lip-therapy-7I think I bought them for £1 each (~93 INR), but they are sold at different rates depending upon which store you buy them from.

Have you tried any products from Vaseline lip therapy line?

December skin care notes

Eee… Happy New Year’s eve and I’m drafting this post, not partying me? Yo, no no… but gifts are packed and bowed! 😀

My new year’s eve excitement ended with the full stop in previous sentence. Nothing exciting happening here, I hope people all around the world (and anyone reading this post,  which I doubt) may have a great time. Anyways lets get to business:

This month I tried all new products; has the hunt for perfect moisturizer ended with Lacto Calamine? How did cocoa butter work on my extreme dry skin? Let me note down one at a time:

Lacto Calamine with Koalin and Aloe Vera – See the dry skin tag, this is what caught my attention. Most of the advertisements of Lacto Calamine are for oil/dust free skin so I never gave it any look. But, woh and oh this cutie little lotion comes for dry skin too, let me try. It is good for as a moisturizer, doesn’t give a greasy look and decent moisturization, which would be ok in summer but in winter I need more. I finished this bottle and would not buy it for winter, maybe in summer if I do not find anything better.

Himalaya Herbals Body lotion, cocoa butter and wheatgerm – This is the body lotion my skin has been craving for, total love! It moisturizes perfectly(I’m not scratching as much as before). It is made for extra dry skin, as the label says, smells so chocolaty and smells lingers all round the day. I’m gonna get this again, it is already over.

Burt’s Bees lip-balms – I have already made extensive notes on these here. Currently trying to finish Pink Grapefruit, Pomegranate Oil is backup in purse, hence using these only. From tomorrow onwards I’m gonna attack Nivea Raspberry Rose, which is still packed, can’t wait to indulge into some raspberry! Here are some more raspberries.

I wish I get the perfect(decent at least) face moisturizer in 2014. Make a wish in below comment box, Beauty Goddess refers my post comments for granting them, no kidding yeah 😉

Burt’s Bees lip-balms – Pink Grapefruit, Pomegranate Oil, Honey

My notes about the famous Burt’s Bee lip-balms. I got three flavors of Burt’s Bee (Pink Grapefruit, Pomegranate Oil and Honey) somewhere in October, since then I’ve been using only Burt’s Bee lip-balms and trying to decide whether I like them or not. Winter has arrived in India and my super-dry skin needs to drink moisturizers, lips are no exception. I have come to accept that I eat more lip-products than breakfast 😀

Anyways to begin the notes about Burt’s Bees, the flavor that I tired first was Pink Grapefruit (this was good choice, that I would come to know later). It is a clear lip-balm no tint, smells citric(y) and give good protection to chapped lips. Stays on for 1 hour or so, I don’t lick my lips, by God! Nothing very special, does what any other lip-balm does. Oh and yes it is smooth, not so buttery smooth but smoother than Burt’s Bee Pomegranate which is smoother than Burt’s Bee Honey.

Burt’s Bee Pomegranate is berry color in tube but applies clear on lips. The smell is delicate, not as strong as Nivea Pomegranate which is one of my favorites. Applies not so smoothly, I need to press hard. This works same like grapefruit in terms of protection. So nothing very great here as well.

I saved the worst for last,  Burt’s Bee Honey lip-balm. It is hard, I need to tug it on lips three four times to get a decent coverage. Smells sweet, but I do not like the smell, since it smells so bad and is so difficult to apply I couldn’t use it much, cannot say much about protection of lips.

Overall,  the good thing about Burt’s Bees is the Natural tag, these are 100% natural. In terms of lip protection from cold they work ok, as in Bangalore Winter is not chilly. Pink Grapefruit was best amongst three; applies smooth, smells nice and gives protection from chapped lips. I wouldn’t be picking these again, I may try their best peppermint flavor if available in India (someday) and not this expensive (I got three for 11.85 Euros, approx Rs 340 each).

PS: I want I want Nivea Raspberry and Rose next.

Update 15-5-2014:

Here is a update to this post on where one can buy Burt’s bees lip balm in India. Sadly they are not available online with reasonable price, that means you can find them on, etc. but very pricey, like 2k for one lip balm. The good news is Burt’s bees products are available in Sephora Delhi, so all ya beautiful ladies in Delhi have a treat!

MaybellineIndia’s Baby Lips – No More!

My super dry skin always needs attention and full protection, lips specially. There are always 2-3 lip balms in my bag. Last year Maybelline launched the super cute Baby lips, immediately I wanted to own a few. But sadly we had to wait for their launch in India. And then they finally arrived in Indian market with bang. Alia Bhutt endorsed them still all that hype couldn’t makeup for the cheap Indian Baby Lips version. Nevertheless I found Mango Pie quickly and then got Coral Flush, which I no longer use.

You see the difference? Well no more cheap looking Baby Lips for me. I’ve finally got my hands on the original Baby Lips in Germany! It’s cute and original, and not available in India.

PS: I also found Burt Bee’s, and they rock! More about them in another post.
